Why People Fall in Love With Las Vegas

People either love Las Vegas or they hate it. The bright lights, gambling, adult entertainment and epithet of Sin City are not for everyone. However, those things also entice millions of people to visit the city and they keep Las Vegans from having to pay city or state income taxes. You have to dig a little deeper to get to the core of what Las Vegas really has to offer. Most of the locals enjoy the strip in small doses. Its fun to go to a show every once in a while, or to take some friends from out of town to a nightclub, but that’s not what makes the city great.

Las Vegas has over 300 days of sunshine a year and the average temperature is 80.7°. It gets hot in the summer but Lake Mead is the perfect place to get away from the heat. It is only a short distance outside the city and its 500 miles of shoreline make it big enough for everyone to enjoy. There is also a ski resort just 45 minutes from the Strip. During the winter you can drive up and play in the snow at Mount Charleston for the day and then return to sleep in your own bed the same night.

The Red Rock National Conservation Area is practically in the city, but you’d never know it when you’re there. The rocky red and grey mountains are ideal for hiking and rock climbing. There is also a 13-mile scenic drive with breathtaking views of both the mountains and the natural radiance of the Mojave desert. There are dozens of recreation centers and parks that offer a safe play environment for children. The YMCA and Boys and Girls Club of America sponsor sports teams for kids and encourage them to stay in school and away from drugs and other negative influences.
