Every major resort has a taxi stand but there are other ways to get around town without spending a fortune on cab fare. Certain hotels have their own complimentary shuttle services. Most shuttle service is free for people who are staying at the hotel, but it can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour in between stops. If you plan on using a free shuttle service then get to the station at least an hour early just to be safe.

The Las Vegas Monorail was completed in 1995 and travels from one end of the Strip to the other in less than 15 minutes. If you are willing to pay a little extra, the monorail is the best way to get around to many of the casinos. It has taken some time for the monorail to gain acceptance because of the relatively high ticket prices and the fact that it is not very noticeable from the Strip. However, the system is very effective and the ride can be quite an experience in and of itself. For example, one of the trams is fully equipped with a Star Trek theme. The tram is sponsored by a ride called The Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton.
