HendersonThe city has been nationally recognized for its exceptional parks. The 43 public parks cover more than 1,200 acres. The Lake Mead National Recreation Area encompasses 1.5 million acres of land and is located close to Henderson. Its two lakes are popular for boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, picnicking and all sorts of exciting activities. Close to 96% of the water in the lakes comes from snow that melted in the Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and New Mexico mountains. Both of the lakes are manmade reservoirs created by the Hoover and Davis dams. Henderson’s nightlife isn’t quite as extensive as that on the Strip, but there are still a couple of places worth checking out. Whiskey Sky is the best place to go if you’re looking for a trendy place with a wild side. You might even see a couple of celebrities looking to keep a low-profile by staying off Las Vegas Boulevard. The club/bar has beds instead of couches and a good selection of cocktails and specialty drinks. Whiskey Sky is decorated with a 70’s theme and offers an incredible view of the Strip at night. The Drop Bar at the Green Valley Resort Casino is open 24 hours. Its interior is furnished with white couches atop dark wood floors. At night they draw the curtains to eliminate the distractions caused by slot machines and the casino crowd. The Drop Bar is smaller and more laid back than Whiskey Sky and the dress more casual. |
