Culture in Southern NevadaThe Nevada Ballet Theatre is one of the leading cultural organizations in Southern Nevada. Dancers from all over the world come to Las Vegas to train with the best, and to perform at Judy Bailey Theatre—part of the UNLV Performing Arts Center. In 1972, Vassili Sulich gathered a handful of ballet dancers from the Las Vegas Boulevard entertainment industry and staged a series of performances that received fervent praise from the community. It was the geneses of the Nevada Ballet Theatre (NBT). Today the NBT is a significant part of the Las Vegas performing arts community and it continues to grow in popularity. Many of the dancers have international experience and all of them are committed to disciple and high standards. Each year the NBT sponsors events like The Nutcracker Market—a yearend event held to raise money for the theatre. Novice and professional dancers work closely together and the event culminates with a performance of the Nutcracker Ballet. |
